With major national retailers and renowned museums and galleries as its core customers, everything about Imageco is large format and big scale, despite just three years in business.

Partners Steve Johnson and Brian Plows and their 40 staff in the Leeds-based lab specialise in retail and display graphics for national companies including New Look and Peacock's and for museums including the National Museum of Film, Photography and TV.

Turnover is split 50/50 between the two sectors and while they require very different levels of image permanence, since the lab opened, Fujicolor Crystal Archive Professional Type DP and Crystal Archive Fujitrans are the first choice of paper and back-lit materials.

"Some retail graphics may only be displayed for four months, so archival properties are not as important as for the banners and posters we produce for museums and galleries, which need to look good for longer. But the true colours, deep shadows and clean whites of Crystal Archive Professional Type DP and Fujitrans give the very best reproduction whatever the display time," says Steve Johnson.

"The quality of the supply chain is just as important a consideration for the choice of paper - and Fujifilm has always delivered! This is vital because many of our jobs require large quantities of materials and we can't afford to lose time with ever-tighter deadlines.

'We print on a Lambda and 50' and 30' Chromiras and always advocate photographic printing over ink-jet printing, because of the stability and quality of the finish. Customers are prepared to pay a premium price for this, so our best advice also gives us the best return, because the profit margin on prints is almost double of that of ink-jet."
